Grrr…ok, so I pretty much wrote off green tea because I am not really a hot tea drinker. I’m barely a coffee drinker (only drink latte or iced latte). Then a few years back, Lipton came out with bottled green tea with lemon that could be served cold. Well, I didn’t like the lemon taste.
Well, last week a coworker and I tried out a new Vietnamese restaurant and they offered an Iced Green Tea. I found this interesting and ordered it just to see. Freaking LOVED it. Was freaked out about how I’d been missing out on this drink. Figured it would be easy to do. LIES!!! For the past week I’ve been trying brand after brand of green tea to no avail! See, this drink was light, bright green, but all the teas I’ve tried look dark, moss green. The taste is also not right. Mind you, all I did to the Vietnamese one was add some Splenda. The closest I’ve been able to find is Bigelow’s Pomegranate Green Tea, which still isn’t quite right, but has a lovely taste.
So last night, a friend and I went back to the same restaurant. I ordered the same drink and watched as they made it. They use a POWDER! All they did was add water, ice, the green powder and shook it up like a martini! AUGH! So off to google I went. Apparently they use Matcha Green tea They steam the tea leaves instead of roasting them, like normal green teas. It’s generally more expensive but a naturally sweeter green tea!! I can find some from Starbucks for around $10, but I’m waiting until lunch to go to World Market to see if they have any other brands.
Also, as I was waiting in my car, for my friend, in front of the restaurant, the radio D.J. was talking about how he lost some weight and a trainer he’d been using. Well he gave out her information and I wrote it down. I’ve been wanting a trainer, ever since my old trainer moved across the country. Welpers, my current gym (Golds) requires you to pay for packages, not single sessions. That makes me uncomfortable. Secondly, they expect you to meet with your trainer twice a week. Sorry no. For 10 sessions, it’s $500 and all of those sessions would be used up in about a month. Uh-uh. With my old trainer, we’d meet up every 2 weeks for hour long sessions, each session would end with her giving me a workout schedule. It was great and fit me perfectly. I can stick to a schedule and training regime once it is built for me. Working with old trainer is what had me down to my lowest 148 pounds. But she just HAD to get married to some dude who lived in Cali…sigh.
Anywho, this trainers site sounds similar to what I used to do. She starts out at $65 but after 5 sessions, she goes down to $60, then after 10 sessions she’s $55. This seems reasonable to me if I can set up an every two week schedule. ALSO, she does nutrition review. She ACTUALLY COMES INTO YOUR HOME AND LOOKS IN YOUR CUPBOARDS! She’ll pull out what is bad and write up a better nutrition plan after getting to know what you like. Crazy and cool all at once. I’m pretty sure if I tell her I’m on WW she won’t have much objection, but don’t you think it’d be cool to have someone look at what you really eat?!
