Steady as she goes

Filed under: Meal Planning Tools, South Beach Friends — by palainat @ 1:50 pm

Joined up with the new South Beach Diet board It’s a group of long time SBers who are encouraging each other without having the newbie questions associated with SB.

I’ve buckled down on my meal planning and made a plan and kept to it at the grocery sore. Planned my meals for this week:

S-Grilled Steak & Peppers with couscous tossed with cucumbers & tomatoes
M-WW Pepperoni Pizza with cucumber salad
T-Shrimp & Broccoli on WW Pasta
W-Chicken Goop (crockpot recipe) with salad
R-Vietnamese Pork Wraps (SB Quick & Easy cookbook)
F-Hamburgers on WW with SB onion rings & cole slaw(made with vinegar, not mayo)

Pretty nice, huh? Most of these allow me to take leftovers for lunch (well, except for today, it’s payday, all coworkers go out to eat together)

Last night, Kirk & I ran over to Wal-mart (he needed post-its) and I found a little planner that I’m going to write down my meals on. This is something else that should help in planning, I figure if I’m online and see a good recipe, I can go ahead and plan for it for the following week.

This may be a money saver as well. When I went to the grocery store and just bought what I needed for these recipes, plus my breakfast & snacks, it ended up only costing $50. Obviously, I had some essentials already in my house, but still, $50 for a week of food, not bad!

What does it all mean??

Filed under: Uncategorized — by palainat @ 1:19 pm

So, last week, Kirk (SO) came up for his college break. He is with me until mid-August. I’ve stated before that he is my biggest supporter with weight loss. Not in the “Gee, your a fat ass, lose weight or I’ll leave you” way, but in the “Hey, let’s cook at home tonight instead of spending money fast food” way. Gentle, I guess.

Anywho, I find it wierd/funny that when he’s around I’m more likely to eat healthy and want to work out than when I’m by myself. I guess I need interaction?? I don’t know. For instance, there is a high school track about 2 blocks from my townhome, I pass by it everyday on the way home from work. I look at it and wonder if it has public hours during the summer–my hometown school track is open to the public before 9am and after 6pm, but the high school tracks in Corpus Christi(college years) were always deadbolted after the school day.

Anywho, I’ve always meant to swing by, but never did. I mention it to Kirk, and the next thing I know, he’s running down to get the hours of the track. So, now we are planning on going tonight to attempt to run.

I say attempt to run, because I suck at it. Since getting healthy, I have wanted to learn how to properly run, but nothing seems to help. I’ve tried Couch to 5k, but it doesn’t do what I need it to. I think I need a running clinic, but I’ve never lived anywhere where one is offered.

Food has been ok. With Kirk I’m good, on my own…eh. I’ve been on a cheese kick lately, which isn’t the healthiest, isn’t the worst either. I’m a big ol’ wierdo I guess :)

Shrimp

Filed under: Uncategorized — by palainat @ 10:25 pm

Dang it, I’ve got a wierd craving right now, I want rice. Now, that is fine in my world, but the thing is that I also want shrimp. So the obvious choice would lean towards an Asian concoction. But here’s the thing…..I don’t feel like a sweet or salty shrimp & rice meal, i.e. no soy or teriyaki….so that leads my brain to be empty.

So, here I am perusing websites in hopes for a recipe that will strike me.

I’m trying to debate if sauteeing them in sesame oil with snap peas and bean sprouts will be a yummy dish or not.

Let’s go see.

B: Yogurt
S: Walnuts & Vanilla Coke Zero
L: Lean Cuisine Alfredo & a peach
S: 5 M&M’s
D: a yet to be determined shrimp dish.

Scooting Along

Filed under: Uncategorized — by palainat @ 12:37 am

I’m making slow progress, but progress nonetheless! I’ve worked out 3 days in a row to Yourself!Personal Fitness on Xbox, along with taking Porter on his walks (2, .5 mile walks and 1 .25 mile walk). Food has been ok. I give myself points for watching portions, eating salads, and going to a burger place that serves a lean burger (95/5) on a ww bun; but a slight negative for eating a pecan praline over the past 2 days.

I’m hoping to transition to better eating, but the planning part has been difficult. I’ve been so swamped at work, that I get home and just throw together something quick (hence the salads).

Ok, time for the last Porter walk of the night!

Starting Over

Filed under: Uncategorized — by palainat @ 3:36 pm

I’m sure people are going to think I’m insane, as I have wiffled all over the blogsphere. First I was here, with a beautifully designed blog, then I fell off the proverbial wagon and deleted the blog in a terrible fit of despair.

After I pulled myself back onto that wagon, I went over to freewebs, but you know what??? I just don’t like it. I don’t need to have multiple pages to do what I want to do.

So, here I am. Back at blogger, back with my original title, and soon enough, back with my oh so pretty background.

Give me a moment and I’ll be up & running.
